Were having a.......

Beautiful Girl!
It was the most amazing experience to get a glimpse of who this precious little baby girl is that is going to be part of our family. Nate and I had a little pep talk with her this morning telling her to not be shy because we wanted to know if she was a boy or a girl so we could get ready for her. She listened really well because she wasn't shy. In fact she was so wiggly! She was continually kicking, wiggling her toes, sucking her thumb, just moving all around. She was so darling! More importantly they said she looks healthy! We can't wait to meet her. Now it's time to look for names and go shopping!

Cravings

There are many crazy and amazing things that happen to your body when you are pregnant. From your heart enlarging to take care of the extra 50% of blood to your bionic senses of smell. Out of all of symptoms of being pregnant the one I was most excited for was the cravings. I love food and before I was pregnant I craved things all the time so I was excited to see what I would crave.
Now I don't know if I would say this was a real craving but more of a forced craving but it's still a good story. It wasn't too far into the pregnancy that I started to feel sick. I didn't feel like eating anything really. My wonderful husband was telling me I needed to eat something so I thought and thought of what I could eat that wouldn't make me sick.....

Karen: A poppy seed muffin, I think I can eat that.
Nate: Where would I get a poppy seed muffin?
Karen: I think 7-11 would have one?

Nate walked to 7-11 to get me a muffin.
Nate: There's no poppy seed muffins, but there's blue berry, lemon or cream cheese. Do you want me to go
some where else?
Katen: I think I can eat blue berry.

On the way home our Bishop saw Nate walking and pulled over
Bishop: Hey Nate, how ya doing.... Got a muffin for dinner?
Nate: Karen was craving a muffin so I went to get her one.

Bishop: She wanted a muffin, so you just got up and got her one hu?

Nate: Ya, she hasn't been feeling too good and I thought this would help.

Bishop: well have a good night and tell Karen hi.

Our Bishop drives off until he gets a little ways down the road and slams on his brakes and reverses down the middle of the road.
Bishop:You just told me two things. 1. Karen's not feeling good. 2. she's craving things. Are you trying to tell me something?
Nate: Well..... maybe?

Bishop: my lips are sealed.

So much for not telling people I was pregnant. Because I was sick most of the first trimester when I did feel ok I would try and try to have cravings. I tried to have other peoples cravings, my sister loved Del-taco, Raquel loved Dairy Queen, my sister-in-law loved Panda Express, a lot of people crave ice cream, chocolate donuts or pickles. I tried them all but to no avail, no real cravings. Now that I'm passed the point where pregnancy craving happen I have had a few normal cravings, the best one is chocolate peanut butter
Haagen-Dazs ice cream... Yummy! Pregnant or not I suggest you try craving it.

True Love

It's been about a month since Adam and Kara Canen were married and it's about time we blogged about it. Nate and I have had so much fun watching Adam and Kara date and then prepare to get married. We are big advocates of marriage since we have gotten married. We can't think of anything better! Now don't get us wrong we both fully enjoyed our single lives and know it has it's purpose but as Nate says about marriage, "it's a better way to live." Knowing how much we love being married we couldn't wait for Adam and Kara. They complement each other perfectly and you can see how much they adore each other. The day was perfect as well. The ceremony, pictures, dinner all of it was just breathtaking! Thank you to Adam and Kara for letting us be a part of your beautiful day.

"One good yardstick as to whether a person might be the right one for
you is this:
in her presence, do you think your noblest thoughts,
do you aspire to your finest deeds,

do you wish you were better than you are?"

"everyone say......."

Now I have to say this picture is from the 4th of July but I wasn't going to post it until..... well... now is a good time. We are so excited to share our news that we are having a baby!!! We shared the news with all our family members the early part of July. It just so happened that my brother, sister-in-law and family were in town and so it was the perfect time to share our news with most of the Sanford family. We had a get together at my brother Brett's house where we gathered everyone for a picture. Nate took the picture and the first one he said, "everyone say CHEESE!" it was a great family pic.... then on the second one he said, "everyone say KAREN'S PREGNANT!" Then he snapped the picture! It was perfect we caught everyones expressions right as we were telling them the news. It was so much fun! We are expecting our baby February 18th. So that makes me 16 weeks and 1 day if your counting.... and I am. We can not wait to meet this little baby.

P.S. (click on the images to enlarge)

Everyone say, CHEESE!

Everyone say, KAREN'S PREGNANT!

a simmering pot and a mom."
